Five Summer Travel Tips: Make The Most Of Your Vacation

Five Summer Travel Tips: Make The Most Of Your Vacation

If you’re like most people, then summer is your favorite season. The days are long, the weather is perfect and there are so many activities that you can enjoy such as traveling. However, whether you are planning a road trip, jetting off to a fun location or enjoying a staycation, these five tips can help you avoid stress and make the most of your summer travel:

SET A BUDGET

Review your finances to determine how much you should spend on your next trip.

Categories to include in your budget:

  • Transportation - It may be cheaper to travel by car or train.
  • Accommodation - Be sure to ask for a discount if you’re traveling in a big group.
  • Food - Check with your hotel to see if they offer complimentary breakfast or discounts at local attractions.
  • Miscellaneous - It’s always a good idea to have a buffer in your budget in case you overspend in one of the other categories.

MAKE A LIST AND CHECK IT TWICE

Rather than re-inventing the wheel, use an online travel list to make sure you don’t forget anything important. The Travel Channel has some great ideas here - or you can use a printable packing list, like this one from Smarter Travel. Being prepared ahead of time, will also ensure that you don’t go over budget during your vacation.

UNPLUG

Don’t be afraid to unplug and enjoy all that the city or country has to offer. There is always something different to explore. At the same time, don’t plan every single minute. You’re on vacation to relax, after all.

Be sure to make space for lots of downtime too. Remember, wellness also includes getting adequate rest to allow your body to recharge.

KEEPSAKES ARE IMPORTANT

In the words of photographer, Katie Thurmes, “we take photos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone.” You can create an online album or have one printed for you into a photobook. One good idea is to decide on a specific souvenir type from each location you visit (e.g. a small craft item or a mug).

MAKE COMFORT YOUR FIRST PRIORITY

You want to make sure that you wear comfortable clothing that breathes with you. This also applies to your shoes. If you are traveling for long distances by car, plane or rail, take special care of your legs. According to Mayo Clinic, “Sitting with your feet on the floor for a long period causes blood to pool in your leg veins.”

Compression socks like those we make here at Crazy Compression are designed to improve the circulation of blood within the legs giving you one less thing to worry about on your summer travels. You can also wear them if you have long days on your feet while you are at your destination.

We hope these tips will help you to make the most out of your summer travel plans! As always, we look forward to hearing from you! Please leave us a comment, or connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest.
